Sophie

Sophie is VERY happy in her new home.  She has a family that loves her dearly and "Harry", her new best furry friend!  Check out these pictures and you will see....

Sophie is a sweet, 75 pound female Alaskan Malamute that is approximately 4 years old. She very much enjoys meeting people of all sizes. She does show a minor problem with jumping up to greet a person, but we are confident this will diminish as her foster person works with her.

Sophie begins a walk eagerly, doing mild pulling. As the walk progresses she stops pulling. With little effort she can be taught to walk nicely at one’s side. She does like being in the lead, first to all the discoveries!

When she first came to her foster house she felt a need to test the resident male Malamute for dominance. She growled at him for a time. We let them get use to each other and in short order they were roaming the house and yard amicably. Sophie and Echo (the other female Malamute in this house) have never had issues.

We have been told that Sophie is not aggressive to cats, but have not had the opportunity to confirm this. She has shown herself very friendly to all of the dogs we meet. These may be dogs from her size down to little 5 pounders. She is happy and playful to meet them.

Sophie is not a hyper girl. She can be a couch potato. On the other hand she can hand routine walks of six miles without hesitation. If a person wanted to teach her to work in harness, she would accept such. The most important thing to her is that her person gives her lots of love and approval.
